Luanda - Collective taxis in the Angolan capital, Luanda, have gone up from 150 kwanzas to 200 kwanzas in all routes, the National Land Transport Agency said in a statement Wednesday.
The fare for public urban road passenger transport on all routes in Luanda province will be 150 kwanzas for a minimum distance of 20 kilometres.
The measure, the statement said, follows the need to adjust fares for urban public road passenger transport services and occasional passenger transport in Luanda province.
The note is silent on when the new prices will come into force, emphasizing only that for other provinces of the country, the new fares will be set locally, according to their respective cost structures.
The fare adjustment was made in accordance with the updated cost structure, after consultation with taxi driver associations and taxi cooperatives in Luanda province, the statement said.
Wednesday saw the end of the moratorium on fuel subsidies for taxi drivers, a process that was initially scheduled to end on April 30, further extended to May 15. VC/DAN/AMP
