Luanda – The diamond sector in Angola has invested 235.8 million US dollars in social projects from 2017 to the first half of 2023, the head of the Brilhante Foundation marketing department, Sidónio Borges said Thursday in Luanda.
Speaking at a workshop on social responsibility actions and projects in the mineral resources, oil and gas sector, Borges said a total of 112.8 million US dollars to beginning new projects, while 123.04 million dollars to existing projects.
He pointed out that the sector had invested heavily in the health sector, with a total 17.3 million US dollars over the 2017-2023 periods.
He stressed that the investments were channeled into preventing and combating Covid-19, through the purchase of safety equipment, tests, awareness campaigns, donations of medicines, hospital equipment, ambulances, support for the training of medical professionals and maternity hospitals.
