Luanda - Standard Bank Angola announced, on Tuesday, in Luanda, the availability in its portfolio of more than US$100 million for credits to small and medium-sized companies in several sectors, from agriculture, commerce, oil and gas.
Speaking to the press, regarding a meeting with customers, the banking institution's executive director for small and medium-sized companies, Fernando Chivinda, said the bank's philosophy is to guarantee support in different areas to stimulate the country's economy.
He highlighted the intention to increase the portfolio, given that small and medium-sized companies “are considered the lever of any economy”.
The director made it known that the institution contributes to preparing clients to enter the market, as well as monitoring projects, so that they can use financing for their initial purpose.
He explained that, as a guarantee of preparation, the impact variables are shared, quarterly, during an “economic briefing” meeting with clients and economic experts.
“If customers grow, so does the bank”, he said.
For his part, Standard Bank's executive director, Bill Blackie, reiterated the group's commitment to working to develop the institution in Angola, so that it can operate at levels similar to those in Europe and America.
The informal meeting aimed to connect customers with the bank's top leadership in Angola and the group in general.
During the meeting, the main challenges faced by businesspeople were heard in order to better support and together find more viable solutions for the growth of the economy.
The event was attended by a delegation of 13 individuals from the management of the South African standard group.
Standard Bank has already financed approximately US$200 million since the Project to promote local production began back in 2019.
