Soyo – A butane gas station will be built in the municipality of Soyo, Zaire province, the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, announced on Wednesday.
The minister told the press that the project could be built by a private or public/private initiative, and Sonangol is currently developing contacts for the implementation of this project.
“Sonangol is working to present the schedule of activities for the physical execution of the project in the coming days,” he added.
According to Diamantino Azevedo, the ministry is engaged in implementing this manufacturing unit in the region, in order to respond to one of the requests made by the Provincial Government of Zaire.
The minister was speaking on the sidelines of the laying of the first stone for the construction of a new gas production factory, in the municipality of Soyo.
Installation of directorates of oil companies
On the occasion, the provincial governor of Zaire, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, defended that the oil and gas companies with business operations in this territory should set up their managing offices in this region of the country.
“We ask representatives of large companies in the oil and gas sector, who carry out their activities in our territory, to set up their offices in the region, so that we can work together for the development of the province”, he requested.
According to the governor, within the framework of social responsibility, companies in the oil and gas sector must invest more in social projects, building schools, hospitals and drinking water systems in all municipalities in the province of Zaire.
With an area of 40,130 square kilometers, the province of Zaire is administratively subdivided into six municipalities, 25 communes and 711 villages. JFC/JL/TED
