Soyo – Angola state oil company Sonangol has said it remains committed to implementation of clean energy projects that guarantee the sustainable development of the country, its CEO Gaspar Martins said Thursday.
Martins said efforts have been implemented to change the energy matrix of the country through the usage of environmentally friendly renewable energy sources.
The Sonangol CEO, who was in Zaire province to witness the entrance into operation of the Gas Reception and Distribution Unit (URDG), said the project contributes to the strategy to increase the use of natural gas as a source of clean energy generation and as a raw material for the petrochemical industry and fertilizer production.
Martins said the project is expected to reduce greenhouse gases emissions in the atmosphere by preventing the flaring of gas produced by oil platforms and its proper use. JFC/PMV/JL/AMP
