Luanda: Angola’s National Fuel Society (SONANGOL EP) denied Wednesday reports on alleged lack of petroleum by-products in Angola.
Sonagol was reacting to reports on fuel shortage in the country, which has sparked panic buying in recent days.
"We inform to the public that there is no fuel shortage in the country", states SONANGOL, in its press release reached Angop on Wednesday.
It states that the fake news circulating in some media imply an alleged rise
in fuel prices in Angola in the coming days.
The oil firm said that the reports were intended to disrupt the normal functioning in distribution and cause price speculation.
The statement informs that some regions of the country, such as the provinces of Lunda Norte, Lunda Sul and Moxico, which record heavy rains in this season of the year, have been experiencing some challenges for normal supply.
However, the company vows its commitment to ensure the availability of fuel in country , coupled with the increase in its transportation capacity and the exploration of railway transport, in alignment with the Railways.
SONANGOl also spoke of the construction of the fuel storage facility in Saurimo, eastern Lunda Sul province, as being underway.
