Luanda - Sonangol's average crude oil production reached 22.7 thousand barrels per day, in 2023, which represented an increase of 1.12%, compared to the year 2022, the president of the Board of Directors of the Angolan state oil company, Sebastião Martins, said Friday in Luanda.
The manager, who was speaking during the press conference about the preliminary assessment of Sonangol's performance last year, and presentation of the prospects for 2024, said that this production resulted from the exploration of nine blocks operated by the company.
According to Sebastião Martins, the respective blocks are part of 35 national oil concessions, where Sonangol is present, which allowed a production of 202,000 barrels/day over the past year, representing 18.5% of national production.
An investment of around USD 2.049 billion was made to ensure the above-mentioned production, being 98% of which in the primary value chain, with emphasis on the development projects of blocks 0, 15/06, 32 and 17/20.
Regarding turnover, he mentioned that the company obtained 10.9 billion dollars and an 'Ebitda' (indicator used to measure the company's results) of USD 3.2 billion, values that predict a positive net result, at the time of disclosure of company accounts.
It also highlighted the production of 221,000 metric tons of gasoline, produced in the new Platforming Unit of the Luanda Refinery, corresponding to an increase of 162%, compared to 2022.
Still within the scope of activities carried out in 2023, Sonangol's PCA also highlighted the resumption of onshore activity in the Kwanza Basin, where two wells were successfully drilled in the blocks: KON 11 and KON 12, with forecasts of producing 80 million of barrels, as well as the drilling of three exploration wells in blocks 15/06 and 20/11.
He also highlighted the inauguration of the Gas Reception and Distribution Unit “Projecto Falcão 2' in Soyo, Zaire province as another gain obtained in 2023.
