Luanda – Public oil company Sonangol E.P signed on Thursday, in Luanda, three contracts for the construction of the Barra do Dande Oceanic Terminal (TOBD), whose works in the first phase are scheduled to end in 2022.

The terminal will have a fuel storage capacity of 580,000 cubic meters of refined products.

Such capacity, combined with the existing one, according to a note from Sonangol, which arrived at ANGOP, will meet the country's needs, as it will also make the process of receiving and distributing refined products safer, more efficient and less expensive.

For this purpose, after the tender was carried out, the engineering services of Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (EPCC) were contracted, won by the OECI.

The company SOAPRO was assigned to carry out the environmental impact studies for the project.

The signing of the contracts was witnessed by the Secretary of State for Petroleum, José Alexandre Barroso.

The Barra do Dande project, located in the province of Bengo, is a strategic project of national interest, which integrates the objectives defined in the National Development Plan 2018-2022 of the Angolan Executive.

The Barra do Dande Ocean Terminal will be the main platform to ensure the storage and reception of petroleum products to meet the country's Strategic, Security and Operational Reserves, as well as to promote an important "hub" for the storage and marketing of fuels in the region.
