Luanda - The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sonangol, Sebastião Pai Querido Gaspar Martins, on Thursday in Luanda Province announced that the final results achieved by the oil company during the 2023 economic year will soon be published.
He was speaking to the press minutes after the swearing-in ceremony of Sonangol's Board of Directors, which was reappointed by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.
“Sonangol enjoys financial health; we’ll soon be announcing our final results for 2023, we have to continue working on increasing revenue, but this does not prevent us from materialising our projects”, he said.
He also said that the reappointment means a vote of confidence and an increase in responsibilities, despite the energy transition phase, the country is still heavily dependent on revenue from the oil sector and Sonangol is a key player in this area.
For Sonangol's CEO, the challenges are clear and were emphasised by the President João Lourenço, namely increasing oil and gas production, completing the Lobito Refinery and the Barra do Dande Ocean Terminal, as well as developing projects to create alternative energy sources in synergy with the company's partners.
