Dundo - The SOMILUANA project, in the municipality of Lucapa, Lunda-Norte Province, expects to produce around 12 thousand carats of diamonds/month this year, a goal that could contribute to increasing the production of this strategic mineral.
The mining project, whose selection center is to be inaugurated in April this year, as part of the technical activities on the mine Workers' Day in, will generate 762 jobs.
According to ANGOP, the project is expected to reach around US$77 million/annually over approximately 20 operational years.
The kick off of effective exploration of the mine opens up new perspectives in the diamond subsector, with emphasis on the increase in tax revenues, according to ENDIAMA E.P. forecasts.
With a concession area of 444 square kilometers, the secondary deposit (alluvium) has a 33% share from Samiluana, while the concessionaire, Endiama, holds the other 67%.
The commemorative day of April 27th, according to the program sent to ANGOP, foresees the inauguration of the Cácata Phosphate exploration project, in the province of Cabinda, with a concession area of 85 square kilometers.
The phosphate will be explored over a period of 10 years, which may be extended.
Phosphate exploration is part of the Angolan Executive's strategy to make the country self-sufficient in fertilizers, in order to boost national agricultural production and, therefore, stop spending large sums in foreign currency on importing inputs.
Phosphate is a fundamental element in the manufacture of fertilizers, as it constitutes the main source of energy for carrying out the plant photosynthesis process, and, together with potassium, it accelerates the plant growth process.
