Luanda - The National Diamond Trading Company of Angola, SODIAM EP, raised, on Wednesday, Oct 16, US$12.9 million, with the sale of 1,493 carats of diamonds.
According to a press release to which ANGOP had access on Thursday, the bid was made at auction, with 44 special rough diamond stones produced by Somiluana, Lulu, Kaixepa, Tchegi, Chitotolo, Luele and Catoca mining companies.
According to the document, the sessions took place from the 7th to the 15th of this month, at the SODIAM EP facilities, in Luanda, with electronic submission on the online platform www.transatlanticgemsales.com.
A total of 37 companies participated in the auction.
This was the 11th Edition of the rough diamond auction organized by SODIAM.
The current format of the auction is ruled by presidential decree 175/18 of 27 July.
