Luanda – The non oil sector of the Angolan economy is predicted to grow 3.42 per cent, which will be a key-factor in the country’s global economic growth foreseen for the year 2023, said the minister of State for Economic Co-ordination, Manuel Nunes Júnior.
According to the minister of State, who was speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the new board members of the private Investment and Exports Promotion Agency (AIPEX), for 2023 it is equally foreseen a global growth of the Angolan economy of about 3.3%, a better prospect compared to the 2.7% of 2022.
Manuel Nunes Júnior stressed the need to consolidate such growth of the non-oil area, with special emphasis on the contribution of the private sector as the main propeller.
To him, this is ought to be the focus of governmental action, so that Angola can gain a strong and sustainable economy, less dependent on crude-oil and more able to face external shocks.
He highlighted the sectors of farming, fisheries, manufacturing industry, extractive industry, tourism, among others in the non-oil area which should get the focus of the governmental authorities in the near future.
Nunes Junior lauded the grains boost programme (Planagrão), envisaging that it will have a great impact in the increase of production countrywide, next year.
The minister of State assured that the coexistence of national and foreign private investment will speed up production and growth, bringing about efficiency and sustainability.
So, he called on AIPEX to keep working intensely on attracting private investment for the country.
“This board have the necessary knowledge and experience to make a differentiated work, present concrete results at short, medium and long terms (...)”, emphasised Manuel Nunes Júnior.
According to the minister of State, the country needs these results so that economic diversification can be a concrete fact in Angola and, consequently, increase employment with better salaries, aiming at the improvement of citizens’ living standards.
On his turn, the CEO of AIPEX, Lello João Francisco, assured that he will work to strengthen the intervention of the institution and achieve the set goals.
The AIPEX new board were recently appointed by President João Lourenço.
