Luanda - The Secretary of State for Telecommunications Pascoal Fernandes Friday in Luanda called on the finalists of the Telecommunications Institute (ITEL) to pay special attention to the productive areas of the country that need promotion and acceleration in research and innovation.
Pascoal Fernandes made the appeal when delivering his speech at the 2nd Ceremony of awarding diplomas to more than 216 finalists of the Multimedia Systems, Computers, Electronics and Telecommunications Systems courses.
The official stressed the need to invest in the development of information and communication technology applications and systems with a view to contributing to the development of the country.
Pascoal Fernandes considered the Telecommunications area as one of the sectors inducing the socio - economic development of the country, considering that local and global telecommunications networks are responsible for a huge circulation of information flow.
"Angola cannot do without an efficient telecommunications system with the capacity to expand throughout the country, bringing knowledge and digital services to the population. Such a desideratum is only possible with qualified resources," said Pascoal Fernandes.
He also said that over the years ITEL has launched talented young people and entrepreneurs with social and innovative projects into the labour market.
The Telecommunications Institute (ITEL) was created with the aim of organising specific technical courses for the community and, in particular, for young people, to better prepare them for integration into the information society. HEM/PPA/DAN/NIC
