Uíge - The Secretary of State for Forests André Moda highlighted Saturday in northern Uíge province the need to create a forest concession plan aimed to ensure better management and protection of the country's forest resources.
André Moda, who was speaking at the meeting he held with businesspeople from the local forestry sector and administrators from Quitexe, Ambuila, Mucaba and Milunga (UIge), considered the management of forest resources to be fundamental, justifying that it guarantees employment for many families in rural areas.
He also recommended greater preservation of forests to businesspeople in this sector, with a view to improving the population's living conditions.
The province of Uíge is one of the largest with forest coverage in the country, with a volume of 40,000 cubic meters of wood harvested/year.
The meeting was attended by businesspeople, defence and security agencies,
administrators, among other guests.
