Malanje – The secretary of State for Public Works, Molares d´Abril, expressed his disappointment due to the level of physical execution of the rehabilitation work of national road 230, in the section that links the municipality of Malanje to Mucari, under the responsibility of Chinese company CRBC.
The rehabilitation of the 57 kilometers section, which began in October 2020 and which has a physical execution rate of 69.5% and financial execution rate of around 80%, should have been concluded last December, said the official.
The secretary of State requested the contractor to be more serious and faster in the execution of the works, taking into account the agreed conclusion deadline.
“We need to use the road and no more excuses about the rain. The inspectorate has the record that it has been 30 days without rain, and the other argument that they should no longer mention is the lack of payment, because about 80% has already been paid”, he concluded.
At the time, the CRBC construction company representative, Zen Xiong, blamed the rains for the works delay; thus, he promised his commitment to deliver the works according to the stipulated time that has been extended.
The deputy director of the National Roads Institute of Angola (INEA), José Manuel, said that considering the technical and human capacity of the contractor and with payments already made, they should be able to conclude the work on time.
He explained that some technical aspects, plus the sidewalk and water drainage interventions, among others, still need to be effected.
The work on the Malanje/Mucari section is budgeted at over 33 billion kwanzas, and 318 workers are on it.
The secretary of State for Public Works also visited the Mucari/Rio Lui section and travelled with the same purpose to neighbouring province of Lunda Norte.
