Cabinda - Sécil Marítima put into circulation, a few days ago, on the Cabinda/Soyo route and vice versa, a cargo ship with the capacity to carry 440 tons of various goods.

The information was provided to the press on Saturday by the governor of Cabinda, Suzana de Abreu, during the end-of-year greetings ceremony.

With three weekly frequencies, the ship in operation for 14 days is transporting raw and containerized cargo, thus mitigating the effects of the closure of the river port of Kimbumba (Soyo), where goods were shipped to Cabinda by artisanal vessels in poor technical condition.

The governor announced that, in the coming days, Sécil Marítima will put another ship called 'Cabinda' on the same itinerary for the transport of food.

On the occasion, Suzana de Abreu said that in 2025 the first phase of the works of the Caio Deep Water Terminal will be completed to end, once and for all, the problem of docking large cargo vessels in this northernmost region of the country.

He said that the entry into operation of this infrastructure will transform the province of Cabinda into a commercial centre of the Congo basin.

The Kimbumba river post, recently closed by the authorities, was the main point of shipment of raw and containerized goods destined for the province of Cabinda, through artisanal vessels. ING/JFC/JL/DOJ
