Luanda - The private business community is a strategic partner of the public sector, with emphasis on access to markets, industrialisation and regional socio-economic development, said on Wednesday in Harare (Zimbabwe), the chairman of the SADC Business Council, Vicente Soares.
Speaking at the 7th edition of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Industrialization Week, which runs from 28 July to 2 August in Harare, the president of the Angolan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIA), said that the 16 national chambers of commerce and the six business associations of Southern Africa have positively influenced policies in the member countries of this community.
Cited in a note, he considered the private sector as a partner of the public sector that has influenced the elaboration of public policies, with regard to market access, industrialization and development of the value chain.
The Business Council is composed of 16 SADC member states, with the aim of promoting sustainable and equitable economic growth, as well as socio-economic development through efficient productive systems of cooperation and integration in the region.
The 7th edition of the SADC Industrialization Week is attended by companies from the 16 Member States of this community, which is a unique opportunity for Angolan entrepreneurs to explore and establish commercial and industrial investment partnerships, using regional value chains.
At the end of this event, Angolan Vicente Soares will cease his duties as chairman of the SADC Business Council. OPF/QCB/DOJ
