Luena - Rohan Rovos, owner of the luxurious South African train Rovos Rail, highlighted, on Sunday, in Luena, the 'excellence', safety and technical assistance of the railway line of the Benguela Railway (CFB), compared to other countries where he has passed.
The South African businessman in the hotel and railway sector reiterated that Angola's railway line is 'excellent', having felt proud to arrive at Luau, the first Angolan territory, after leaving the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
He stressed that it was in Luau, where the 'Rovos Rail' train, which carries 60 people, including tourists, benefited from assistance and other technical conditions to facilitate the trip.
Rovos Rail is a privately owned railway company headquartered at the historic Capital Park Railway Station in Pretoria, South Africa.
With 1,344 kilometres, from Lobito (Benguela) to Luau (Moxico), on the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Benguela Railway is the largest railway line in the country and is transatlantic.
Its rehabilitation, before reopening in 2012, cost an estimated $1.8 billion from China's credit line.
The rehabilitation of the railway line had been awarded by the Government to CR-20, in January 2006, and the works began two years later.
Between Lobito and Luau, 67 stations were built and rehabilitated, passing through the provinces of Benguela, Huambo, Bié and Moxico. MT/TC/YD/DOJ
