Ndalatando - More than 3,000 young people from eight of the country's provinces have benefited with one billion kwanzas, which has been used to finance agricultural projects under the Youth Programme to Support Domestic Production (Projaprom), an initiative of the National Youth Council (CNJ).
The programme, implemented with the help of the Agrarian Development Support Fund (FADA), which provided further funding, aims to promote employability by encouraging young people to take up farming, according to the vice-president of the CNJ, Sebastião Maurício.
The youth leader, who was speaking as part of the 2024 national youth political association, held this week in Ndalatando, assured that the CNJ will continue to invest in the agricultural sector, as it is a great source of employability for young people and an opportunity for this group to participate in food production for the country.
"This year we want to see more young people producing food and having agriculture as a source of employment. For this reason, we decided to discuss the matter with the provincial governments", he said.
To boost Projaprom, the vice-president of the CNJ said that the organisation would soon be launching the Agricultural City Project throughout the country, with the aim of bringing together young producers and avoiding the dispersal of funds and forces between the city and the countryside.
The association's year includes a number of patriotic activities, meetings with youth and government officials with the aim to discuss problems affecting young people.
The CNJ is represented in provincial, municipal, community and district headquarters. It is made up of 52 political, religious and civil society youth associations, as well as 707 partner organisations. DS/IMA/QCB/MRA/DOJ
