Menongue - The Cuchi Steel Company (CSC), in southern Cuando Cubango province , will start to produce pig iron within four months, with an installed capacity of 250 tons per day, an action that will contribute for the sustainable economic growth of the province.
This was announced Tuesday to ANGOP by its general director, Wilton dos Reis Oliveira.
The production will initially start with a blast furnace, of the three that are expected to be installed until 2025, whose operation will generate 1,100 direct jobs for youths of Cuando Cubango province.
He said that by 2025, when the second phase of the project is due to start operating, it was expected to generate 4,022 jobs, the production of which would be boosted by the installation of a Moçâmedes Railroad line and the port of Namibe, via its regular use in transport.
He said that the project overall had investment of USD 300 million, of which around USD 60 million had already been invested in acquiring equipment, machinery, installation and construction of the shipyard, amongst other means.
He noted that the exploration area in Cuchi was 2,000 hectares.
