Huambo – At least 125 projects have been financed since 2020, with a global value of over Akz 10 billion (about US$11.3 million), as part of the implementation of PRODESI actions, in the province of Huambo, ANGOP learned.

The information was provided Friday, by the director of the local Economic and Integrated Development office, Manuel Vitongue, at the end of the VI ordinary session of the huambo's provincial Government, led by governor Pereira Alfredo.

On the occasion, he said that they were, for the most part, projects linked to the agriculture, industry and services sector approved by the Production Support, Export Diversification and Import Substitution Program (PRODESI) since 2020.

He specified that the programs fall within the scope of the Angolan Executive's Economic Relief, Notice 10/2022, the National Bank of Angola (BNA) and the restructured Credit Support Project (PAC), all included in PRODESI.

Manuel Vitongue informed that the Central BAnk's Economic relief and Notice 10/2022 programs are in the reimbursement phase, and the restructured PAC will soon move on to this stage.

He mentioned that there are 78 projects that must make repayments, while others are in the negotiation phase with the Development Bank of Angola (BDA) in order to extend the deadlines.

PRODESI is an Executive program, which aims to boost the diversification of national production and the generation of wealth, in a set of productions with greater potential for generating export value and replacing imports.

These include the food, agro-industry, mineral resources, oil and natural gas, textiles, forestry, clothing and footwear, construction and public works, information and telecommunications technologies, health, education, training and scientific research, tourism and leisure's sectors.
