Luanda - The first micro-diamond analysis laboratory in Angola starts its operation this April in Saurimo, eastern Lunda Sul province, with 100 percent national investment.
This was announced by minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas Diamantino Azevedo, who was speaking at the meeting with journalists, ahead of celebrations of the Miner Worker Day on 27 April.
He said the laboratory will allow to determine the content of the diamond and its economic value and help companies linked to the sector in the operation of these process.
The infrastructure of micro-diamond analysis also joined Regional Laboratory of the Geological Institute of Angola (IGEO) of Saurimo, whose inauguration is scheduled for 25 April.
In his message to miner workers, Diamantino Azevedo highlighted the gains attained in these five years with the implementation of reforms that brought to Angola multinational companies such as Angloamerican, Rio Tinto, Tosyali and Pensana, which are providing great advantages to the mining industry.
As a result of the trust and due to the reforms started and implemented in the sector, Diamantino Azevedo spoke of improvements in the business environment, in view of the actions, some concluded and other still underway.
In his message, the minister stressed the important achievements recorded during the legislative term that ends this year.
He also underlined the significant increase of the mineral prospecting, such as copper, nickel, cobalt, rare earth elements, niobium and phosphate, as some essential for the energy transition.
