Luanda - The President of the Republic of Cabo Verde José Maria Neves was the highlight of the first edition of the Forbes Award, as the winner of the "Social Responsibility Individuality" category, in recognition of his political career and his governmental and leadership action in his country.
This was on Friday during the award gala for companies and distinguished individuals that stood out in the social responsibility actions, sponsored by Forbes Africa Lusophone Magazine.
Addressing the ceremony, the Cabo Verdean Head of State thanked and congratulated the Forbes initiative, stressing the role of the event in paying tribute to the economic agents operating in Angola and engaged in social responsibility issues, an action that should be recognised, praised and encouraged.
Cabo Verde president hopes that with these initiatives the companies will continue to use their political and social influence to transform realities, through social and corporate responsibility actions.
He also hopes the dissemination of good management practices of inclusive, intelligent and responsible leadership capacities, besides generating wealth and jobs.
In addition to the award of the President of Cabo Verde, Angolan individuals committed to social actions for the most vulnerable were also recognised.
Among the distinguished individuals, five stood out. They are João Brás, Elisângela Valetim, Paula de Morais, Teresa Pires and Ntumba Camunga, who together were the winners of the special category "Anonymous Heroes".
According to the organisation of the Forbes Social Responsibility award, this category aims to recognize people who create social projects to combat poverty, promoting small actions that make citizens useful to the family and society.
Grupo Carrinho wins "Grand prize for social responsibility
Alongside the distinction of these individuals, the business group "Carrinho" was the winner of the category "Grand prize for social responsibility", with emphasis on its school lunch program.
In addition, seven other categories were also distinguished, namely "Agriculture, Distribution and Logistics", "Trade and Industry", "Engineering and Construction", "Oil, Gas and Mining", "Financial Sector", "Telecommunications", "Public Business Sector".
The respective categories were won by the companies "Carrinho", Refriango, Omatapalo, Pumangol, Banco Milennium Atlântico, Unitel and Sociedade Mineira de Catoca, respectively.
The winners of all categories received trophies and honourable mentions from the organisation.
Under the motto "Celebrate peace, support society, invest with justice", the event essentially aimed at recognising business leaders, public figures, members of civil society and praising projects that are dedicated to making a positive contribution to the well-being of communities.
Forbes Africa Lusophone, which in 2021 replaced Forbes Angola, is a magazine focused on cross-cutting issues for Portuguese-speaking countries (PALOP).
