Luanda - Angola government has predicted a 17.2 percent decrease in the main products listed in Food Strategic Reserve (REA) as of April 4-10, compared to November 2021.
The government said Tuesday it expects a price drop in wheat flour, corn flour, sugar, rice, Soy, chicken and others that the price reduction will be registered all over the country.
Angola’s strategic food reserve entered into force in December 2021, aimed to curb price rise of the staple basked products.
The REA managers estimate that the price of 25kg wheat flour will drop to 10,250 kwanzas (55.5%), against Kz 23,033 in November 2021, while the bag of cornmeal (25kg) will be Kz 9,300 (23.9%), 4,500 kwanzas less than in the previous period.
The 50kg bag of sugar, which cost 24,200, goes to 22,600 kwanzas (6.6%), the 25kg bag of rice goes from 11,737 to 8,790 kwanzas (29.3%), and the 25kg bag of rice drops from 10,000 to Kz 8,700 (13%).
The 12-liter Soy box drops from 17,450 kwanzas to 13,800 (20.9%), while the 10-kilogram chicken drumstick that cost 10,190 will stand at 8,250 kwanzas (19% ).
On the other hand, the REA foresees the rise of the bag of Pinto beans (25kg), from 24,000 to Kz 28,750, an increase of 19.8 percent.
