Luanda - The behaviour of the price of a barrel of oil on the international market had a positive influence on Angola's trade balance, which stood at 2.51 billion kwanzas in the second quarter of this year, 2023.
Despite the figures, Angola's trade balance fell by more than two billion kwanzas compared to the same period last year, with records totalling 4.015 billion kwanzas.
Among the exported products are mineral fuel goods and pearls, precious stones, precious metals and jewellery.
According to the results released by the National Statistics Institute (INE), to which ANGOP had access, the reduction in the balance was influenced by a decrease in the total value of exports of around 17.6 per cent year-on-year.
In the second quarter of 2022, exports were worth 5.87 billion kwanzas compared to 4.84 billion in the period under review.
In the same period, imports rose by 25.4 per cent, from 1.86 billion Kwanzas in the second quarter of 2022 to 2.33 billion Kwanzas in the second quarter of 2023.
Angola's imports include mineral fuels, vehicles and other means of transport, food products, base metals, chemicals, agricultural products, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, machinery and equipment, among others.
The main export continents, according to percentage structure, during the second quarter of 2023, were Asia (72.6 per cent), Europe (17.2 per cent) and North America (4.5 per cent), in relation to the total value.
