Luanda – Angolan president João Lourenço has approved a 2.7 billion US dollars loan from Luminar Finance Limited, of the Israeli group Haim Taib, to finance projects, infrastructure and services.

The financing covers public works, energy, natural resources, education, agriculture and agro-processing, water, sanitation, technology and communication, real state, health and economic development.

According to Angola National Radio Broadcaster (RNA), which cites a Presidential Order dated October 6, the Israeli group Mitrelli, which operates in telecommunications, agriculture and health sector, will be tasked with carrying out the projects.

The measure is justified by the need to finance "strategic and priority projects" in different sectors of the country's economy, says the presidential decree.

The Finance Minister, Vera Daves de Sousa, has been authorised by the president to sub-delegate and sign the framework financing agreement with the Luminar Finance Limited.

Luminar Finance Limited, a company based in Zurich, Switzerland, linked to the Israeli group Mitrelli, is involved in financing various housing and electrification projects in Angola.

Presenting itself as the world's leading provider of financing solutions for emerging market countries, especially in sub-Saharan Africa, Luminar Finance Limited is part of Haim Taib's Menomadin group, which finances projects in countries that have contracts with Mitrelli. CLAU/AC/AMP
