Luanda – Angola president João Lourenço announced Tuesday the acquisition of the first Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft for early 2025.
The Head of State was speaking in Luanda at the opening of official talks between the Angolan and US delegations, adding that these are the first of a total of six aircraft to be acquired by the country.
Lourenço said Angola is currently working with the American company Wings Group Consulting to extend the country to category 1 of the Federal Aviation Administration, which could be facilitated by the full operation of the newly inaugurated international airport in Luanda.
João Lourenço expressed the country's intention to work with the US to attract investment to Angola and to open up trade and business opportunities for Angolan investors in the American market.
João Lourenço praised the contribution of the United States to food and energy security and to the economic and social development of Angola and the entire southern region of Africa.
João Lourenço stressed that ANGOSAT-2 works with NASA and the Maxar company to acquire high-resolution satellite images to monitor natural disasters, namely in the implementation of the Program to Combat the Effects of Drought in Southern Angola (CESSA).
The Angolan president praised the fact that the country will host the United States/Africa Summit in June 2025, which will bring together politicians, businesspeople, academics and American and African civil society to talk about business, history, culture and other issues of cross-interest.
João Lourenço expressed his desire to see American investors involved in the construction of high-voltage power transmission lines, under the Public-Private Partnership regime for the countries of Southern Africa, namely for the Copperbelt region (Zambia), the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), as well as Namibia, connecting the electricity grid of the Southern African Development Countries (SADC).
“Mr. President, your vision and commitment to the success of the tourist corridor, as well as your great contribution to our energy transition program, with the construction of the solar parks in southern Angola, will always be remembered as a great contribution to food and energy security, to the economic and social development of Angola and the entire southern region of Africa,” said João Lourenço.
The Boeing-787 “Dreamliner” stands out for its high level of technology, interior design and operational way, fuel economy and environmental sustainability. VC/AMP
