Luanda - The Port of Luanda was recently distinguished in Brussels (Kingdom of Belgium) as one of the public companies with the best quality of leadership, through the European Convention for Quality Research (ESQR).
The European organization is dedicated to promoting the improvement of quality management strategies for processes, services and products on a global scale.
According to a note from the Angolan embassy in the Kingdom of Belgium, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the European Union, ESQR's distinction took into account the fact that the Port of Luanda has invested, in the last three years, in providing quality services.
Specifically, in its affirmation of good business practices and technological innovation, through a successful performance strategy, with initiatives to promote quality developed.
According to the document, this distinction can be awarded to private or public entities, with the aim of encouraging the winners in the search for better actions, achieving their business, institutional and professional goals through the continuous improvement of quality.
The award was received by the Chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) of the Port of Luanda, Alberto Bengue, who on the occasion considered the distinction as an appreciation and reward for the efforts made by the company's work teams.
'This achievement adds to the level of responsibility of the company, through which about 80% of the volume of the country's exports and imports currently pass,' reads the note.
Regarding this edition of ESQR, it had a distinction extended to 55 entities from Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas and Australia, individually and collectively, linked to the social, economic and diplomatic branches, as well as business leaders, academics and professionals of renowned quality.
The European Society for Quality Research is a Swiss organisation based in Lausanne but with an international scope.
In addition to this distinction, the Port of Luanda was the winner of the 'Best Regional Container Terminal' award, within the scope of the awards granted by the international port platform Crans Montana.
This award is one of the 11 categories created by this international platform to distinguish and encourage authorities linked to port activities. QCB/DOJ
