Mbanza Kongo - Five thousand and 965 liters of fuel, which was to be smuggled to the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), was seized on Sunday by the Border Guard Police in Zaire province.
The seizure of this product (diesel) took place in the border commune of Luvo, which is 60 km north of the city of Mbanza Kongo, capital of Zaire province.
According to a note from the corporation sent Monday to ANGOP, in Mbanza Kongo, nine national citizens were arrested accused of alleged fuel smuggling.
Also on Sunday, the Border Guard Police in Zaire seized, at the Luvo border, 35 bags of rice, 10 bale balloons and a volume of various shoes, for an attempt to evade the tax authorities.
The goods were being transported to the DRC, through clandestine paths called 'fiotes'.
Nine three-wheeled motorcycles and one two-wheeled motorcycle used to transport these goods were also seized.
The seized products and means will be sent to the Department of Investigation of Criminal Offenses (DIIP) in Zaire for processing. JL/DOJ
