Mbanza Kongo – At least 5, 520 liters of fuel bound for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were seized Tuesday by the Border Guard Police in the municipality of Soyo, northern province of Zaire.
In a note sent to ANGOP, the Press Office of the Provincial Delegation of the Interior in Zaire states that the fuel was being transported by an artisanal craft.
The document adds that the seizure of the product, packed in 69 water drums, took place in the Santo António river canal, as a result of operation carried out by the staff of the 2nd Border Guard Police Unit in Soyo.
The note also mentions that the presumed owners of the products fled when they noticed the police patrol.
The fuel was handed over to the General Tax Administration (AGT) in Soyo for legal procedures.
