Mbanza Kongo – Six fuel caches for smuggling in the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were deactivated on Thursday, by the National Police, in the municipality of Mbanza Kongo, Zaire province.
The deactivation of these deposits, built in backyards in the Bela Vista area, in the 11 de Novembro neighborhood, is the result of a joint micro-operation between staff from the Department of Criminal Investigation (DIIP) and the Reaction and Patrol Unit (URP) .
During the police action, seven thousand liters of fuel and four vehicles loaded with diesel were seized, including a tanker truck.
According to the spokesperson for the Provincial Delegation of the Ministry of the Interior in Zaire, Sérgio Afonso, the seven thousand liters of diesel were packed in 200 containers of 35 liters each, having highlighted that in recent days the forces of order have intensified security actions combating smuggling to discourage this evil that corrodes the country's economy.
The source also spoke of the seizure of two thousand and 595 liters of diesel, in the town of Sumpi, 30 kilometers north of the city of Mbanza Kongo.
The product was being transported on three-wheeled motorbikes towards the border with the DRC.
Four national citizens were arrested on that occasion and accused of fuel smuggling. DA/JL/DOJ
