Luanda - The drawing up of the National Geology Plan (Planageo) is practically concluded, with only a part of the provinces of Lunda Norte, Moxico and Lunda Sul (eastern region of Angola) still to be mapped, said Wednesday in Luanda the secretary of State for Mineral Resources, Jânio Victor.
Speaking to the press in the scope of the first edition of the round-table on “Women in the Angolan Mining Industry”, the official informed that the National Geology Plan and the Chinese company Citic are already drawing up the work schedule to complete the geological surveys in the mentioned provinces.
On the occasion, the official pointed out the preparation of the geological maps that portray the geological reality of the provinces of Cuando Cubango, Cunene, Namibe, Benguela, Huambo, Bié, Cabinda, Zaire, Uíge, Cuanza Norte, Bengo, Luanda, part of Lunda Norte and Lunda Sul as one of the achieved results with the implementation of the Planageo.
He noted also that the geology plan allowed the training of technicians, as well as the assembling of different laboratories in the provinces of Luanda, Huíla e Lunda Sul, in addition to producing more detailed geological and geochemistry maps.
The official clarified that Planageo also serves to provide indications or probabilities related to the existence of minerals in a certain area, a process that should be followed by a more in-depth prospecting study.
According to Jânio Victor, these results are of crucial importance for the business people who want to invest in this field, reducing the investment risks.
Planageo was launched in May 2014 and aims to make a scientific survey of Angola´s mineral and geological potential and also to bring more investors in the mining field.
