Ndalatando – Over 19 billion kwanzas have been spent for the implementation of 29 social public investment projects during the first half of this year under the Integrated Municipal Intervention Program (PIIM) in the ten municipalities of Cuanza Norte province.
Of the total number of projects, 24 are underway, while five have been paralyzed due to the late of payments and the technical incapacity of the contractors, which resulted in the termination of three contracts for non-compliance, data from the Cuanza-Norte Provincial Government's half-yearly balance sheet has shown, ANGOP learnt on Tuesday.
According to the document, the level of physical execution of this work is around 84 per centre, while financial execution is estimated at 70 percent.
Of the projects mentioned, 18 are linked to the education sector, four to health, three to tarmac work, two to the community services sector and housing, energy and water have one project each, respectively.
Among the important PIIM projects underway in the province there are three schools under construction in the municipality of Cazengo, a landfill site, a new cemetery and 450 social houses.
The province has registered 89 PIIM projects, 43 of which have been completed.
Cuanza-Norte province is located in the far west of Angola, 190 kilometres from Luanda, with 10 municipalities. It covers 20,252 square kilometers and has an estimated population of over 500,000 inhabitants. LJ/IMA/QCB/DAN/AMP
