Soyo – The oil company Etu Energias, former Somoil, expects to produce 50 thousand barrels per day of crude oil from 2026, compared to the current 25 thousand barrels/day.
The aforementioned company operates in Block 2/05, in association with other partners, located in the Offshore and Onshore of the Congo Basin, in the municipality of Soyo, province of Zaire.
According to the chairman of the Board of Directors, Edson dos Santos, who spoke to the press on Thursday in Soyo, the company is focused on profitable and sustainable growth.
He explained that the process involves the acquisition and positioning in new oil blocks, as well as the exploration, development and production of black oil.
He explained that the change of name from Somoil to Etu Energias, operated a few years ago, aims to get advantage to renewable energies, remembering that in the recent past, this operator had its focus solely on the exploration of crude oil.
In this context, he highlighted that the oil company is in a process of profound transformation, in which it intends to revert thermal sources to renewable energy in the order of 70 percent, in its operations, with the installation of solar panels.
“We have several projects across the country, where the replacement of diesel electricity generators with solar panels is underway”, he highlighted.
He also spoke about the company's intention to expand its activity into the distribution of petroleum derivatives, which is why he announced, in the near future, the construction of fueling stations across the country.
As for environmental preservation, he said it was the first priority, stressing that, in the last two years, 80 kilometers of the crude oil transport pipe network, which was obsolete, was replaced, to mitigate the environmental impact.
“Etu Energias is the only operator in the country that has its operations very close to residential areas, hence our focus on safety and environmental protection”, he asserted.
Still in this context, Edson dos Santos reported that the company under his management also reduced gas flaring by around 40 percent, on attached oil platforms, for whom the vision is to extinguish this process (gas flaring), in next five years.
The chairman of the Board of Directors of Etu Energias S.A, spoke at the end of the ceremony handing out certificates to 220 young people of both genders, who completed technical-professional training courses at the Soyo Polytechnic Institute (IPS), sponsored by his company and partners.
For six months, the trainees attended courses in the specialties of industrial electricity, industrial welding, auto mechanics, refrigeration and cold, piping, renewable energy, among others, within the scope of a Protocol to Support Development, Technical Capacity and Creativity, among said school and Etu Energias.
This is the fourth phase of the aforementioned training, sponsored by this national oil operator, benefiting more than 500 young people of both sexes.
