Ndalatando – At least 26 business plans have been financed to the tune of around four million dollars in Kwanza Norte province up to August this year, under the Commercial Agriculture Development Project (PDAC).

The information was given to ANGOP on Monday in Ndalatando by the PDAC coordinator in Kwanza-Norte, Elias Mouzinho, on the sidelines of the ‘First Round Table of Negotiations’.

The funded projects, he said, are part of a total of 35 already approved in the province.

He pointed out that the funding began to be disbursed in December 2021 and is allowing the expansion of cultivation areas, fundamentally for the production of maize, beans and soya.

The aim was to increase productivity and improve access to markets for eligible beneficiaries in the chicken, egg and grain production chains.

The loans have a repayment period of five years and a one-year grace period, at an interest rate of 7.5 per cent.

As well as creating a business plan, the project includes financial and technical assistance and investment in infrastructure.

The first-round table of negotiations was organised by the company Incatema, and was attended by 150 participants.

Among the participants were producers from the so-called ‘A’ corridor of the PDAC, which encompasses the provinces of Kwanza-Norte and Malanje, heads of companies providing insurance and agricultural inputs, as well as bankers.

The aim of the meeting was to facilitate negotiations to boost the development of agricultural value chains, covering products such as inputs, equipment, infrastructure, financial and professional services.

The event also aimed to establish strategic partnerships between producers and suppliers of goods and services, in order to contribute to the sustainability of the agricultural sector in Angola. DS/IMA/YD/DAN/DOJ
