Luanda - The National Assembly (AN) assessed, on Tuesday, the Execution Report of the General State Budget (OGE) for the Third Quarter of the year 2024.

The document was presented by deputies of the 5th Committee that deals with Economy and Finance issues, during a meeting of the AN's specialty committees.

The report will be discussed and approved at the next plenary session scheduled for Feb 20, within the scope of parliament's control and oversight powers.

At Tuesday's meeting, deputies recommended that the general level and methods of collecting tax revenue continue to be improved, updating existing and other sources and collection methods.

Parliamentarians defended encouraging the increase in national oil production, through concessions for new tenders that make it possible to attract investment and increase production, as well as supporting actions to promote micro-credit for family farming, within the scope of family food security.

The development of the logistics chain to facilitate the storage, conservation and flow of agricultural production centers and the improvement of mechanisms for promoting private initiatives within the scope of the implementation of the Diversifica Mais Project (Project to Accelerate Economic Diversification and Job Creation), are also included in the document.

They also recommended that efforts be continued to contain the growth of public debt, in order to guarantee the sustainability of public finances and that priority be given to the completion of existing works and the rehabilitation of the country's main road axes, within the scope of the implementation of the Public Investment Program (PIP) and the Integrated Intervention Program in PIIM Municipalities.

Deputies highlighted the intensification of administrative and financial deconcentration actions to raise budget execution levels and the improvement of support mechanisms for communities located in the country's most remote areas, within the scope of the Production Support, Export Diversification and Import Substitution Program (PRODESI).

They also highlighted the consolidation of economic and financial measures, in order to mitigate the devaluation of the national currency and provide families with greater purchasing power and greater attention to the financial implementation of the Strengthening the Combat of Economic, Financial Crime and Corruption program.

In the social sphere, they highlighted, among others, the increase in the number of beneficiaries of families registered in the Monetary Transparency Program “Kwenda Program”, in order to mitigate the impact of the crisis on the most needy families.
