Luanda - Angola has signed a memorandum of understanding in Italy to stimulate the production, processing and international projection of varieties of locally produced chili pepper, according to a note from the Angolan embassy to this European country.
The document was signed between the Embassy of Angola in Italy, the municipality of Rieti, the Chili pepper World Fair and the chambers of Commerce and Industry of the two countries, represented by ambassador Fátima Jardim, mayor Daniele Sinibaldi, and the presidents of the fair, LivioRositani, and chambers Mario Cabrini and Arrigo Trevisanello.
The protocol foresees training actions, organization of fairs and incentives for the production of Angolan chili pepper as activities that could be implemented immediately.
The signing took place at the end of the 13th Chili pepper of Rieti World Fair, according to the document sent to ANGOP on Tuesday.
The Angolan diplomat highlighted the importance of the act, considering it “a first step towards innovation and economic growth among local companies dedicated to the cultivation of this product, due to the country's mainly agricultural characteristics”.
In turn, representatives of the two chambers of Commerce expressed their satisfaction with the opportunity created through the document.
The municipality of Rieti, in northeastern Italy, has a strong tradition in the cultivation and processing of chili pepper and annually, at the end of summer, hosts an international fair that coincides with the city's festivities. VC/DOJ
