Luanda - Angola will host, next year, the 57th Annual General Assembly of the African Airlines Association (AFRAA), according to a statement from the national air carrier TAAG.
“At the same time, and with the formal announcement of Angola’s acceptance as host country of the 57th Annual General Assembly of AFRAA, TAAG will assume the rotating presidency of the institution, in 2025, attributed to the president of the Executive Committee, Nelson de Oliveira”, highlights the document arrived this Tuesday at ANGOP.
The information follows TAAG's participation in the 56th Annual General Assembly of this continental organization, held from the 17th to the 19th of this month in Cairo, Egypt, which brought together more than 500 high-level delegates from the aviation sector in Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Americas.
The document says that holding the event in Angola will be a landmark moment and the ideal occasion to highlight the country's advances in areas such as infrastructure, Tourism, Commerce and Transport, as well as promoting strategic partnerships to attract new investments.
“The moment reflects Angola’s growing notoriety in the African and global aviation panorama, consolidating its positioning as a strategic regional hub”, it reads.
It also constitutes an opportunity to promote the 'Angola Brand', strengthen Luanda's role as a mobility platform at a regional level and highlight the António Agostinho Neto International Airport (AIAAN), located in Bom Jesus, municipality of Icolo and Bengo, 40 kilometers from the city center.
The Egypt summit hosted panel debates on the most relevant topics for commercial aviation, including spaces for networking, bilateral meetings, exhibition of products, services and new technologies, offering a valuable opportunity for companies in the sector to present their services and explore synergies with strategic partners.
The Angolan delegation at the event was led by the president of the Board of Directors of TAAG, António dos Santos Domingos, who gave the speech highlighting the strengths of the country and the national carrier, as organizers of the summit next year.
The AFRAA Annual General Assembly is recognized as the leading African aviation forum, bringing together leaders, experts and decision-makers to discuss the sector's challenges and opportunities.
Participants include airline presidents and CEOs, representatives from organizations such as ICAO, IATA and AFCAC, civil aviation authorities, airport operators, air navigation service providers, aircraft manufacturers, component suppliers and other strategic actors.
This year's event focused on analyzing topics such as the development of air transport in Africa, strategies to integrate the continent, strengthen economic connections, innovative solutions for the sector, technological advances, sustainability and competitiveness.
AFRAA was founded in 1968 and is a regional organization dedicated to promoting cooperation between African airlines, defending the interests of the sector and driving the sustainable growth of aviation on the continent.
It is made up of 48 members, which represent more than 85% of the continent's international air traffic, and plays a central role in integrating and strengthening the aviation sector in Africa.
TAAG, a leading company in the aviation market in Angola, recognized globally with sustained growth, currently offers 13 domestic and 11 international destinations.
In addition to passenger transport, its fleet also transports cargo, a service that is increasingly essential for the development of the local ecosystem, taking “deep pride in its history, service and focus on continuous improvement”. VC/DOJ
