Luanda - The Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) predicts an increase in global primary energy consumption of 23% by 2045, where the oil accounts for the largest proportion of this global expenditure.

OPEC's projection indicators were released Tuesday in Luanda by its Secretary General, Haitham Al-Ghais, who said that the worldwide demand for oil will continue to grow, from the current 97 million barrels per day to 110 million barrels/day until the year 2045.

During this period (2022-2045), according to the Secretary-General, the world oil sector will have to invest, in cumulative terms, approximately 12.1 trillion dollars, in an injection of 500 billion dollars per year, to meet the future global energy consumption challenge.

This should, according to OPEC's global projections, double the world economy and the projected global population growth is 1.6 billion people by 2045.

In this perspective, the head of the organisation of petroleum producing and exporting countries, in his speech at the 3rd edition of the Angola Oil & Gas International Conference, which takes place from November 29 to December 1 this year, in Luanda, urged African countries and other "actors" to step up investment in production.

“Given these trends, it is imperative that African countries reach their maximum productive potential in the coming years to meet the challenges ahead,” the leader warned.
