Luanda - The Angolan State raised, in 2023, an amount of 47.9 billion kwanzas from the sale of participation in 11 Assets, within the scope of the disposal program of the Institute for Management of State Assets and Participations (IGAPE), the Secretary of State for Finance and Treasury, Ottoniel dos Santos announced today, in Luanda.
According to IGAPE's 2023 balance sheet, this value results from the sale, through the Privatization Program (PROPRIV), of a set of Assets belonging to Sonangol and the Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone (ZEE-Luanda/Bengo).
According to the spokesperson for the National Interministerial Commission of PROPRIV, who held a meeting today to review last year and prospects for 2024/2026, among the assets sold, two stand out from Sonangol, linked to oil production, amounting to 41 thousand million kwanzas, on the global amount raised.
In this group of 11 Assets, the units associated with the Special Economic Zone also stand out, with particular emphasis on the “Indutubos” factory, worth 1,850 million kwanzas, and in general these assets are associated with ZEE, Sonangol, as well as linked to other entities.
Asked, at a press conference, about the non-compliances, Ottoniel dos Santos revealed that it is set at around 12 billion kwanzas, out of a total of 400 billion kwanzas that the State has to receive.
The amount in default, explains the spokesperson for the PROPRIV National Interministerial Commission, is concentrated in five companies, representing 80% of the 12 billion kwanzas.
However, explains Ottoniel dos Santos, the State has been negotiating with the companies in question and when justified, the seller (State) takes legal and judicial measures.
Regarding the assets linked to Social Communication to be privatized, the Secretary of State reiterated that they are on the list of those to be privatized until the end of PROPRIV, which allows the program team to fine-tune strategies and the best period for selling these assets.
“Media Nova and Tv Zimbo will be privatized as defined by the Executive”, asserted the government official.
The PROPRIV National Interministerial Commission includes officials from various ministerial departments, namely the ministries of Finance, Planning, Commerce and Industry, Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Transport, the National Bank of Angola, IGAPE, Sonangol E.P. as well as other institutions involved in the implementation of the Privatization Program.
