Luanda – At least eight new industrial units are due to enter this year the Luanda/Bengo Special Economic Zone (ZEE), with the emphasis on food processing factories.
According to the ZEE CEO, Manuel Pedro, the new factories are part of a group of 20 projects in the process of being set up in the special economic zone, which could generate around 14,000 jobs, 50 per cent of which will be for women and disabled people.
Speaking to ANGOP on the sidelines of the Workshop on the Sustainable Investor map presented in Luanda, Pedro said other projects are expected to be implemented within the planned deadlines.
As regard to the Sustainable Investor Map, Pedro said the instrument is of extreme importance, since it will make it possible to publicise Angola's business opportunities, especially from the ZEE to the world.
The Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone (ZEE) is Angola’s main industrial centre, with the aim of boosting national production, attracting domestic and foreign private investment, creating jobs and contributing to the diversification of the national economy.
Set over an area of more than 4,700 hectares, ZEE has almost 150 industrial units installed, 113 of which are in operation.
