Luanda - The draft State Budget (OGE) for the 2025 financial year is being outlined in line with the new Political-Administrative Division (DPA), which increases the number of provinces in Angola from 18 to 21, the national director of the State Budget, Edilásio Caleia said Wednesday.

According to the DPA recently approved by the National Assembly, Angola now has 21 provinces, with the addition of Icolo e Bengo, Moxico Leste and Cuando, increasing from 164 to 325 municipalities.

Speaking at the 2nd Economic and Social Partners Consultation Forum (FAPES/2024), the national director of the State Budget said the draft budget for 2025 will include financial resources to gradually implement the new units that will be formed under the DPA.

Held as part of the reform of public finances, Edilásio Caleia said the forum aims to promote budgetary transparency and publicize the inclusion of civil society in the State Budget draw up.

The event brought together the main social and economic players to obtain a critical view of the budget and its implementation in recent years, as well as to present concrete proposals to improve the way it is drawn up.

According to the source, it is expected that this participatory and democratic management vision enables a better sharing of public resources, making possible the State Budget to become a more inclusive management instrument.

He added that this sharing of experiences will certainly enable recommendations to be made for subsequent consideration by the Ministry of Finance and other ministerial departments, with the aim to improve budget proposals and the quality of results.

The 2nd Economic and Social Partners Consultation Forum takes place on August 21 to 22 in Luanda, organized by the Finance Ministry through the National Directorate for the State Budget (DNOE).

The meeting, which is taking place in a hybrid format, has the fundamental aim of promoting dialogue between the sectoral bodies and the economic and social partners to encourage the participation and direct intervention of the social players in the definition of priorities for the 2025 State Budget, promoting participatory, democratic management and the sharing of public resources.

According to the organization, by holding this event, the government expects to achieve, among other results, strengthening the exercise of social consultation in Angola and deepening the exercise of participatory democracy. HM/QCB/AMP
