Luanda - The António Agostinho Neto International Airport (AIAAN) will begin operating passenger flights, gradually, as from 10th November this year, ANGOP learned on Tuesday.

According to a decree from the Ministry of Transport, signed by the incumbent minister of the sector, Ricardo de Abreu, the process of transferring domestic and international passenger flights from 4 de Fevereiro International Airport to AIAAN begins on the 10th of November, and must be completed by the 31st March 2025.

TAAG - Angola Airlines - is expected to begin operations on November 10th and other airlines operating in the country can gradually carry out their transfer until the deadline, says the document concerning the implementation of phases two and three of the transfer process.

Speaking to the press last September, the general director of the Temporary Operator of the new Luanda Airport, António Pombal, said that airlines are rescheduling and changing flight codes and other operational procedures and logistics.

Opened on November 10, 2023, AIAAN has the capacity to receive up to 15 million passengers annually and to process, in the same period, 130k tons of goods.

The airport infrastructure, located in the municipality of Icolo and Bengo, is located in a total area of 75 square kilometers and has two parallel runways, with the northern runway being 4,200 meters long and the southern runway being 3,800 meters long, both 60 meters wide.

It also has complementary infrastructures such as shops, restaurants, offices, among others.
