Luanda – At least 90 new jobs (63 national and 27 foreign) will be created by the Sano Dia company with onset of the provisional operation (tests) of the sausage and mortadella factory that is scheduled to kick off in October 2023, in Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone (ZEE).
Budgeted at over 70 million US dollars, the factory, which is 70 percent completed, is expected to start operating in January 2024, the financial director of the company, Carlos Botelho, has said.
Speaking to the press after the signing of the investment contract between the Angolan Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency (AIPEX) and Sano Dia, Mr Botelho said the factory unit will have an installed capacity of 100 tons/day.
Focused on the production of sausages and bologna, Botelho said, the construction of the factory aims to increase production and diversification of the national economy.
According to Carlos Pinheiro, in the initial phase, the company will import the raw materials (additives, chicken and pork meat) and that the project includes breeding of laying hens and chicken meat to feed the factory unit.
The construction of the Sano Dia sausage factory is the result of joint private investment between Angolans and foreigners, with financing from two banks, namely Banco Angolano de Investimento (BAI) and Banco Millennium Atlântico (BMA).
In addition to Sano Dia, ZEE already has in operation the "Quinta de Jugais" sausage factory inaugurated in February by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, and the "Mestre Akino" meat and sausage processing factory, which started operation in April 2019.
These factories, which aim to reduce the import of sausages in the country, join the other three, namely Carnes Valinho (Cacuaco - Luanda), Aldeia Nova (Cuanza Sul) and Carne Natura (Huíla).
