Luanda – Angola’s automated teller machine network (ATM) recorded this week more than 10.1 million transactions in a single day, surpassing for the first time the seven-digit number of daily money withdrawal.
According to the Interbank Services Company (EMIS), the daily record reached highlights the confidence of users of ATM services, representing a decisive moment for the electronic payments sector in Angola.
He adds that this historic milestone means a growth of about 20 times in the last 10 years, given that in 2014 the record was close to 500 thousand transactions.
In October this year, there were 227 million transactions, with emphasis on the multibank channel “Multicaixa Express”, which processed 123 million transactions.
During this period, payment made through mobile phones, using the QR Code, exceeded 201 thousand transactions, demonstrating the potential of this new way of paying.
With this, EMIS reiterates its contribution to the massification of electronic payments towards the total digitization of payments in Angola, with security, convenience and confidence in their use. HM/QCB/DOJ
