Luanda - The joint mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is expected to meet with the Finance minister Vera Daves de Sousa on Monday (5).
The IMF mission, which has been in Angola since 28 November this year, will also hold meetings with other ministerial departments.
Angop learnt that the mission foresees to meet with Public Works and Regional Planning, Trade and Industry and Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas.
The agenda also includes meetings with the private sector, multilateral development partners, the Ministry of Economy and Planning and the National Bank of Angola (BNA).
The joint mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is carrying out monitoring activity from 28 November to 15 December, as part of the Post-Financing Programme on regular surveillance under Article IV of the Fund's Articles of Agreement, under the leadership of Amadou N- R. Sy, the new head of the mission.
Angola and the IMF ended a three-year agreement in 2021, which consisted of the implementation of an International Monetary Fund (IMF)’s Financial Assistance Programme.
At the time, the Angolan authorities and the IMF held talks to analyse the best solution for Angola after the departure of the Fund, but it had not been decided whether there would be a new programme.
The possibility of a new loan is on the table, but the IMF has already warned that "Angola's debt capacity is very limited.
On the other hand, in his recent statements, the Fund's resident representative in Angola, Marcos Rietti Souto, said that average annual inflation forecasts for 2022 were around 21 percent and 15 percent for 2023.
