Talatona - The Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, defended, on Friday, in Luanda, the importance of intensifying efforts to strengthen local content companies, in the face of the challenges imposed by the current exchange rate context.
During the opening speech at the 4th Workshop on Local Content, held under the theme 'Treading the Path to Success', the minister emphasized the need to seek financing solutions, both in national and international markets, as a way to boost the development of local companies and contribute to the national economy.
The minister acknowledged that challenges persist in the implementation of Presidential Decree No. 271/20, especially related to the Foreign Exchange Regime Applicable to the Oil Sector, regulated by Law No. 2/12, which according to him, affects the competitiveness of local business.
'The ministry has interacted with other entities of the Executive to find a solution, but in the meantime, it is imperative to continue to promote efforts that strengthen national companies,' he said.
However, he said it was crucial to empower domestic companies to play a significant role in the entire value chain of the oil and gas industry, from exploration to commercialization.
He encouraged the creation of partnerships between national and foreign entrepreneurs, in order to maximize the use of opportunities in the sector.
For Diamantino Azevedo, the workshop is a platform for debates and exchanges of experiences, where joint efforts will be reflected, overcoming challenges and transforming the Angolan oil sector into an engine of sustainable growth.
The event brought together representatives of the banking and financial sectors, members of the ANPG (National Agency of Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels) and business associations. GIZ/MAG/DOJ
