Cazenga - The Minister of State and Head of the Military Affiars of the President of the Republic, Francisco Furtado, Thursday in Luanda, called on the press to collaborate in publicising the 2024 General Census, which is taking place across the country.
The State Minister, who was speaking in the municipality of Cazenga, urged the media to continue to raise awareness among citizens so that they can have a clear understanding of the work of the census enumerators during the month-long census period, emphasising the fact that the process has a housing component.
The coordinator of the Multi-sectoral Commission to Support the Carrying Out of the Census reiterated that the data to be collected is confidential and will serve the good of all citizens.
The Census will create the conditions for the Government to have the necessary information and all the data on the reality of the country from the point of view of its demographic composition, accessibility, infrastructures, access routes and a whole set of assumptions necessary for the National Statistics Institute (INE), clarified Francisco Furtado.
He recalled that the Executive had planned to carry out the General Population and Housing Census in 2024, complying with the international norms of carrying it out every 10 years.
Taking place under the slogan ‘Together we count for Angola’, the census is organised by the Angolan government through the National Statistics Institute (INE).
The previous census, which took place from 16 to 31 May 2014, found that there were 25 million 789,24 inhabitants in the country.
Like the event 10 years ago, the 2024 general census is an essential process for Angolan society, as it will provide concrete and up-to-date indicators that are essential for defining public policies and making decisions. KAM/ACS/VC/DAN/DOJ
