Minister of Economy honoured with Special Prize

Luanda – Angola´s Economy and Planning minister, Mário Augusto Caetano João, was honoured with a Special Prize for Excellence in African Public Service, in an initiative of the African Leadership Magazine.

According to a press release to which ANGOP had access on Wednesday, the distinction was made on 21 September this year in New York, United States of America (USA), and it aims to recognize the outstanding leadership of the Angolan minister and his contributions towards Angola´s social and economic development.

 

The creation of jobs and wealth, recording the passion and contributions that impacted the internal and external community also contributed to Mário Caetano João´s award, which was carefully selected by African Leadership Magazine´s board of advisors.

 

Due to that, the minister was also deservedly chosen as the cover figure of the African Leadership magazine August/September special edition, which highlights his history for posterity conveying to global audiences the guiding experience for investment in Central Africa.

 

With this highlight, Mário Caetano João enters the exclusive list of politicians, business people and of African thoughts that appear in the cover of the magazine, thus joining figures such as Patricia Scotland, Commonwealth general secretary, Akinwunmi Adesina, chairman of the African Development Bank, Goodluck Jonathan, Nigerian former Head of State, among others.

 

Among other qualifications, Angola's current minister of Economy and Planning holds a Master's degree in Agricultural Economics as well as is a doing a doctoral  degree in Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Management of the University of Agriculture in Prague, Czech Republic.

 

His curriculum also includes a PhD in African Studies from the Faculty of Arts at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic.

 

The attribution of the Special Prize for Excellence in African Public Service to the Angolan minister took place in the 8th Edition of the International Forum on Afro-Caribenha Leadership (IFAL), in the scope of the 77th of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), in the USA.

 

In addition to telling the African story from African perspectives and pointing to possible solutions to unique challenges to the “cradle continent”, African Leadership Magazine is a focused publication on good governance that identifies key achievements, bringing the best of Africa to a global audience.

 

Since its inaugural issue in August 2008, the magazine has grown to become a leading pan-African leadership-focused publication read by over 1.2 million international investors, business executives, government policy makers and multilateral agencies across Africa, the Middle East and Asia, Europe and the United States of America.
