Cape Town - The minister of Mineral Resources and Energy of South Africa Gwede Mantashe defended Monday a greater increase in mining to accelerate the industrialisation of the continent.
Gwede Mantashe was speaking at the opening ceremony of the International Conference on Mining in Africa running from 6 to 9 February in Cape Town, where Angola is represented by a delegation headed by the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo.
In his speech, the South African minister stated that there is every need to increase investment in mining to accelerate continental industrialisation.
The minister also suggested the creation of conditions by investors or companies working in mining to transform the raw material on the African continent, with a view to creating more jobs and attracting investment.
This measure can help, in addition to creating several jobs, contribute to the sustainable development of the cradle continent.
In this edition, with more than 6,000 speakers, Angola participates with 13 companies from the diamond and non-diamond subsector, prepared to display their services and networking, an event that takes place under the motto “Unblocking the Future of Mining in Africa”.
The diamond subsector includes ENDIAMA, SODIAM, AJ SILVA and the Mining Companies of Catoca, Chitotolo, Yetwene, Furi and Kaixepa.
Geosondas, Minbos Resources, Ozango Minerals Hipermáquinas and Shinning Star make up the mining subsector.
